China BlueStar Chengrand Research Institute of Chemical Industry specializes in new chemical materials industry, which includes organic silicon materials, special organic fluorine materials, engineering plastics and modified plastics, fine chemical industry, special organic fiber and chemical engineering.

It services as National Organic Silicon Engineering and Technology Research Center, National Loaded Structure Engineering Plastics Engineering and Technology Research Center, National (Chemical Industry) Rubber Seals Supervision Inspection Center, National Synthetic Material Testing Laboratory, National Technical Committee for Standardization of Plastics, Sichuan Engineering and Technology Research Center for Natural Product Separation, Chengdu Engineering and Technology Research Center for Coating and Adhesive, Information Station for Synthetic Resin in Chemical Industry and Plastics Industry, Organic Silicon Special Committee of China Organic Material Industry Association for Fluorine & Silicon, Modified Resin and Alloy Special Committee of China Engineering Plastics Association, Sichuan Automotive Engineering Association’s Material Branch, Sichuan Special Committee for Automation and Computer Application, Chengdu Adhesive Association, Editorial Department for China Plastics Industry and Silicone Material and Application and the postdoctoral station awarded by Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (the former Ministry of Personnel.

As one of the first batch of institutes to conduct new chemical polymer materials, it has developed a plurality of key common techniques in organic silicon, engineering plastics, modified materials and special organic fiber.

Organic silicon materials fields

The company has a scientific research and design team with rich theoretical knowledge and practical experiences. Its research covers monomers, polymers, post-processing techniques, applied technologies and special equipment for industrial production.

It holds over 120 organic silicon-related scientific and technological achievements, most fill up national vacancies. The technology level ranks first in the country.

Technologies developed include common and special monomer production technology for methylchlorosilane, phenyl chlorosilane, methylvinyldichlorosilane, vinyl trichlorosilane, phenylene monomer, vinyl dimethyl ethoxy silane, divinyl tetramethyl disiloxane, heat vulcanized silicon rubber, condensed single and double-component silicon rubber under room temperature vulcanization, formed silicon rubber, methyl-silicone oil and various silicone production technologies.

Through continuous technical transfers and services, it has introduced techniques and talents.

It is a technical unit for national 10,000-ton methylchlorosilane pilot devices.

It possesses its patents in technologies such as high-temperature vulcanization of silicon rubber, fluidized bed reactor and special catalyst for synthesizing of methylchlorosilane monomer.

It holds dozens of patents and leading position in the domestic sector.

Engineering plastics and modified materials fields

The company focuses on research of synthesizing, processing and applications of loaded structure engineering plastics such as linear saturated polyester, polyether engineering plastics and high-performance engineering plastics.

It conducts engineering development for paraform, nylon, polycarbonate, thermoplastic polyester elastopolymer, thermo-tropic liquid crystal polymer and aramid fiber.

It has installed 1,000-ton level devices and provides technologies for software and hardware development of 10,000-ton level devices.

It has obtained over 20 achievements in the engineering plastics field in the past five years, which have reached national advanced levels.

Representative projects are research for engineering of 1,000-t/a aramid fiber II, 1,000-ton ester exchange polycarbonate and industrial development of materials for 2000-t/a eco-high efficiency red phosphorus flame-retardants.

It has completed construction of the first production line for 2000-t/a high quality eco-red phosphorus anti-flaming materials in the country. Products occupy 70 percent of domestic market shares and exported worldwide.

Products have passed SGS eco-certification. Technology capability ranks first in the country to reach global advanced levels.

Polymerization process of polycarbonate, paraform and chlorinated polyether adopts production technology from structure engineering plastics center.

Enhanced production technologies for engineering plastics, such as polycarbonate and thermoplastic polyester (PET) and propathene are developed on basis of Chengrand technologies.

The company holds special technologies: melt poly-condensation and polymerization of high temperature, high vacuum and high viscocity materials, forming and processing techniques for high performance and precision products.

It designs and produces equipment for synthesizing and processing of engineering plastics (four-screw reactor, polycondensation reactor and TSSJ series double screw extrusion machine).

It has intellectual property rights of certain technologies and equipment.

Special organic fiber fields

The company develops fiber-spinning process based on resin synthetic technology and builds up R&D platform for special organic fibers. It has developed aramid fiber III and completed a 5-t/a test production line and a 20-ton production line.

It has finished industrialization of aramid fiber II and built a 1000-t/a production line. It has made breakthroughs in PBO fiber development and started testing for strength and modulus aramid fiber III.

It has accomplished the development of synthetic technology for thermotropic liquid crystalline fiber and polyphenyl ester fiber and studied fiber spinning by cooperating with Sichuan University.

It also developed technologies for downstream products, such as aramid fiber-related composite materials and aramid fiber paper.

It has developed core technology with intellectual property rights and applied for more than 20 patents.

Methyl-carbonate is used as original raw materials. Phosgene is eliminated to achieve environmental protections. Key devices such as vertical converter, horizontal screw propulsion reactor, four-screw reactor and high temperature and negative pressure conveyer aredesigned and developed.

The products accounts for 70-80 percent of domestic market s.

Production technology  and products of high performance aramid fiber III

Synthesizing of special monomer, preparation of spinning liquid and heat treatment of fiber are original innovation products. Technology has gained 10 patents.
